The High Holy Days are here! We begin with our Selichot Service on September 16th, at 7:30 PM. This will be preceded by Torah Study at 5:30 PM, followed by Havdalah, and Bring Your Own Dairy Dinner. The High Holy Day Services begin on Wednesday, September 29th, with Erev Rosh Hashanah and continue through Simchat Torah which we will celebrate on Friday, October 13th. We will hold our Sukkot celebration in the Sukkah at Cantor Patti and Ray Turner’s home, as well as Friday Night services (October 6th & 13th) and Saturday Torah Study (October 7th) as we have for a number of years. Please see the attached schedule of all the High Holy Day Services on page 4. Yizkor Services will be on Thursday evening, October 12th, at 7:00 PM, at Temple. As you can see, it will be a busy, but very rewarding Holiday season! Tickets for the Services will be mailed to members next week. If you are not a member and would like to join us for the Holiday Services, please contact us at HHH@CongregationNerTamid.org or by phone at 972-416-9738 and please leave a message.

The Congregation is very concerned about our fellow Jews and all of the residents in the greater Houston area affected by the devastating hurricane and flooding caused by Harvey. Please help us help them by supporting the various emergency relief funds that have been setup. The Jewish Federation of Greater Dallas, www.jewishdallas.org, Jewish Family Service of Greater Dallas, www.jfsdallas.org, Union for Reform Judaism. www.urj.org, Red Cross, www.redcross.org. Ner Tamid will be supporting the Dallas Jewish Family Service Food Drive during the High Holy Days. Please consider bringing non-perishable food items to any, and all, of our High Holy Day Services. Kosher and non-kosher foods are appreciated!

Cantor Patti mentioned in her article last month that the Torah Study group is going to begin studying Ne-vi-in, the Prophets. We will start with the Book of Joshua. We invite everyone to come and study with us. Additional details will be provided in the next newsletter.

You may have noticed that some new items/columns have been added to the newsletter during the last couple of months. We are always looking for news and ideas that are of interest to you, our members and readers. Please let us know what you would like to see in the newsletter.

Remember to support our Community Service activities (see page 10). Please take advantage of the rewards programs with the Kroger Community Rewards, Tom Thumb Rewards, and the Amazon Smiles programs which help to support Ner Tamid.
