February began with our annual Tu B’Shevat Seder, held on Friday, February 2nd. We had a very nice turnout and enjoyed the celebration of the New Year of Trees. Thank yous to Brittni, Shuli and Kathy for preparing the service and Seder, as well as to everyone who attended. (I can report on this event since we are a little behind with this month’s newsletter!) Later in the month on Saturday, February 24th, we will have Israeli/International Folk Dancing at 7:30 PM. This will be preceded by Tanach Study at 5:30 PM, and Havdalah, with Bring Your Own Dairy Dinner, at 6:30 PM.
March begins the spring holidays with our Purim Celebration on Friday, March 2nd, at 6:00 PM. We start with a Dairy Pot Luck Dinner, followed by the Purim Magillat, and as always a lot of fun and noise! The end of March brings Pesach, with the first night, Erev Pesach on Friday, March 30th. Please note that there will not be services at Ner Tamid that evening! Saturday, March 31st, our Annual Second Night Seder will take place, starting at 6:30 PM. Please see the flyer on page 7 for this event.
Thank you to everyone who joined us for the New Year’s Day Lunch at Prairie House. We all had a nice relaxing time, enjoying everyone’s company. On Saturday, January 20th, we had a late change to our normal Tanach Study! Marilynn Lepley’s son, Rabbi Yaakov Erber had come in town to visit Marilynn, (he lives in Israel!) and wanted Ner Tamid to join him at Marilynn’s for our weekly study. We had a nice group of members who attended the study session and we all thoroughly enjoyed the opportunity to study with Rabbi Erber. We look forward to doing this again when he visits with Marilynn. (Thank you Marilynn for sharing your home and some of your precious time with Rabbi Yaakov!)
Israeli / International dancing was held on Saturday evening, January 27th. We appreciate the generosity of time and energy that Laura Hanson provides to us as our regular instructor. Laura is an accomplished folk dancer and enjoys sharing her dance and knowledge with us. Even if you don’t want to dance, please come and enjoy the music and fellowship with us!
Remember to support our Community Service activities (see page 9). Please take advantage of the rewards programs with the Kroger Community Rewards, Tom Thumb Rewards, and the Amazon Smiles programs which help to support Ner Tamid.
Come experience what sets Ner Tamid apart.
